WHY COACHED TRAINING WORKS (AND WHY GOING IT ALONE DOESN'T)
Feb 10, 2026
The research is clear: people who train with coaching and community are more consistent, make faster progress, and stick with it longer.
A 2019 study in the Journal of Sport and Health Science found that social support and accountability are among the strongest predictors of long-term exercise adherence. Not motivation. Not willpower. Accountability and community.
Here's why coached training works:
1. You don't have to think about what to do. Decision fatigue is real. When you walk into a coached class, the workout is planned, the warm-up is ready, and a coach is there to guide you. You just show up and work.
2. Someone is watching your form. Poor movement patterns lead to injury. A good coach catches problems before they become injuries, and teaches you to move better over time.
3. You're accountable to someone. When you train alone, it's easy to skip. When a coach knows your name and a training partner is expecting you, the bar to skip is much higher.
4. The community pushes you. Training alongside others who are working hard creates an environment where you naturally work harder. It's not peer pressure, it's inspiration.
The Forge is built around all four of these principles. Every class is coached, every workout is planned, and the community is real.
